Thanksgiving Break

Well, it's been a while since I've been writing. Right now Morgan and I are spending time with Nana and Papa for Thanksgiving.

I've been taking some pictures lately out with the Alpaca and the stray Kitty...so here they are...

Taken yesterday (November 22, 2012)

This is Indian, the light brown Alpaca

Here's Gimley, he looks a little funny in this picture.

All four of the new alpaca lined up around their little house to go into the open fence. It was really funny watching them. They were kinda like Lemmings, once one went the other 3 followed.

These pictures were taken this morning (November 23, 2012)

Here's papa, about to feed one of the alpaca this morning.

Gimley again, he is eating out of Morgan's hand!! (Why does he like her and not me, he wouldn't take the food I had)

Morgan again, this time with a stray cat

Eye Spy With My Little Eye...

A Pooping Alpaca (hee hee, thought of Morgan while I took this pic)

Be prepared for a lot of cat pictures...She was really fun to take pictures of...

Well that's about it. Hope everyone had a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving!!

Schools going GREAT, after Thanksgiving Break, we have about 3 weeks left of the semester and get to go home for Christmas (3 weeks), before heading back up to Rexburg for Winter Semester!!

Well, hopefully I can get better at keeping my blog updated...well at least I'll try!

A Quick Glance into September

So, I just spent the last 2 1/2 hrs updating my blog, and only  got through with the first 7 days of actual College. I told Mom what I did, and she told me to just summarize September ( I don't have to go into detail day by day).

With that said...Here we Go...

The first month nothing really exciting happened.

Well I guess sports started up...Morgan made it on a Competitive Soccer team and I made it on a Competitive Track team. The funny thing about "Competitive" at BYUI is that it's not like real competitive sports. We just go against other teams within the school. There's no such thing as going on a bus and traveling to a rival school and competing against multiple teams. Nope. At least in soccer there are a few teams they play against. In track,  we only have 2 teams (Spartans and Titans). Not much challenge or anything. We don't even practice separately, we practice with the other team. So we know who is going to win and stuff (Not like in HS where we had no idea who was going to win or know who we could beat).

Morgan's also on 2 rec teams for soccer...The Hot Kool Aids (I-team and others) and Bangarangatangs (Ward team).

Sep. 20...Callings!

I am the photographer for the Blue RS! I get to take pics of all our activities. (Nothing happened this month, so no pics.)

Sep. 25...AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!

Couldn't help myself running (walking really fast) to Walmart before track practice to get Avengers.
...BEST $25 of College Money Spent...
We watched it after practices. Had Popcorn, Ice Cream flavored Oreos (really good, kinda like cotton candy texture with filling), and skittles!

Sep. 27...was first games for both teams.

1st was kool aids...they won 1-0
2nd was ward team...lost 0-3...but Morgan did knock down a guy :)

Sep. 29...first Track Meet!

Went to sign in, BUT I wasn't on the list. I showed up every day (except for Thursday) of tryouts last week, you would have thought I would be on the list. Oh well. Went to dorm and printed off proof (Quizzes) that I was actually on the team. Luckily I wasn't the only one who had this problem, ALL the distance runners weren't on the list. Once everything got figured out, I was able to run (No jersey). Only problem they wouldn't tell you when you were running, so you could never get a good warm up in. Anyway, I ran the 400 in 78.9 seconds. Not bad, but not best. best is 63ish and that's at the end of a 3 month season. Our season is only 4 weeks. Not enough time to get in full shape.

Day 7

Sunday September 16, 2012

Church! Again it is weird going in reverse order (RS, SS, Sac), but I guess I'll get used to it. That means when we go back home for Christmas it will be weird going in the right order :)

We got a new RS. We used to be in "Green", but now we are in "Blue".

After Church, we made Tortillas  and Bean Dip.

...This is the dough (well at least some of it)...

...Morgan rolling out the dough with a cup because she didn't believe me when I told her we needed to bring a rolling pin...

...then we cook the tortilla's on the griddle till it looks like a tortilla...
...Voila...These are what they looked like when they were all done...

After eating lunch, we worked on Book of Mormon till 5:30. We had to read 1Nephi Ch 2-6 and fill out our Teaching Journal AND take a quiz on the first 6 chapters. We got 100%! YAY.

For Dinner, we were going to heat up the leftover meatballs, but when I poled out them out of the Refrigerator they were FROZEN. I thought FREEZERS were the ones that FROZE your food, not the FRIDGE. Oh well, so I just made cinnamon vanilla apple pancakes ( I could live off of pancakes).

Skyped Mom for 2 hrs.

Watched Tangled!! During the movie mom had us check our housing contract. We only signed up for fall semester, so we have to go somewhere else for winter semester. So we might go to Aspen which is across the street and to the right of us (Behind Barnes, only 7ish min away).

Well that's it for today :)

Day 6

Saturday September 15, 2012

Woke up at 8:30. Got breakfast and printed off a Resume for the Doughnut shop. Left at 11:12. Dropped off Resume, then went to Deseret Books (Morg got scripture markers), then to DI (I got a stapler and staples), Walmart (Gum, Deodorant, Tortilla Chips, Kool Aid, and Mini Sew Kit), then off to Brohlems.
Did our first Grocery shopping on our own.

This is what we got...$27.24...No Meat
Brohlems is like Marval, it has ridiculous prices for some of their food. Stinks, but oh well. Morgan's paying for ALL the food (She's the one with all the Scholarships). Our cost would have been at least or close to half the price we paid if we had a Winco near by. The closest Winco is in ID Falls (30 min away by car).

Got back by 2pm. Printed off a Tangled coloring sheet for my binder cover for Book of Mormon, and colored it.

Aunt Alli's Meatballs for dinner tonight!!

...Me...enjoying my dinner...

...Morgan and her yummy dinner...

...Aunt Alli's Meatballs...
After dinner, we washed all our dishes. Then went back to room and I E-mailed Mom and Grandma a Brad Wilcox Devotional on Grace (We get Extra Credit in Book of Mormon for having people watch it and give us feed back). Watched the Devotional, then read a chapter in Book of Mormon and filled out my "Teaching Journal" (Comp Book).

Watched Tangled. Well at least a little part. Got to the "I Have A Dream" part and turned it off because I was falling asleep.

Day 5

 Friday September 14, 2012

It's FRIDAY...only one class today, English at 3:15 pm.

Woke up at 10:30, ate breakfast, and cleaned up our room a bit. Read our assignment for English.

English:

We were supposed to have a quiz on the assignment we read, but luckily her previous class failed. So we didn't take it. She showed it to us anyway...It was CLEARLY SOMETHING STUPID...one of the questions was fill in the blank sentence from the text. The answer was "toothpick". Really? Toothpick? How does that apply to English? We started to discuss research topics when the power went off!! Got out 15 min again :)

Went back to dorm. Printed out ALL the papers we needed to print for Book of Mormon class. Got something quick to eat, then headed to the boys lounge for movie/game night. Started to watch "Batman: Dark Night", but someone came in and said we couldn't watch any PG-13 movies in the lounge, only in our rooms. So we turned on "Second Hand Lions".

After the movie we split up into teams, Cops and Robbers. Morgan and I were put on Cops. We had to catch/tag the robbers. It was an OK game. After all the robbers were caught we switched positions. The Cops were now Robbers and Robbers were Cops.

Morgan and I had this plan that we would pretend that we were caught and stroll down the middle of the walkway to the goal. We would ask the Cops who were left to catch. It was really funny. One of the guys asked if we were cops and we told him yes, but he tagged us anyway (Smart move, he got us out).

After the 2nd game of Cops and Robbers, we started playing a different game, but no one really explained it. It was dumb, and my feet and hands were cold. I had on a T-Shirt, no sweatshirt. It was getting COLD. But Morgan insisted we continue play. Then someone lost their phone, so we stayed and helped look for it a while. She didn't bring a key, so I was stuck waiting with her. She didn't want to be a "Party Pooper" so we stayed. Finally around 11:45 we headed back to our dorm.

Day 4

Thursday September 13, 2011

History at 8am and Art History at 9:45.

Made apple pancakes for lunch...YUMMY!

Then went out with Morgan and Emma to look for jobs. First we went to Custodial office, but no luck. So we decided to explore Rexburg. We found a doughnut shop (it smelled so good in there) and asked if they had any job openings, they said possibly and to turn in a resume. Went to Brohlems (local grocery store) and then to Walmart.  At Walmart we got stuff for our Book of Mormon class. Morgan got a binder and tabs, and I got tabs and batteries (my mouse died). Went to the Dollar Store to get a Comp book since Walmart was all out of them. I also picked up envelopes. Then we stopped off at the UPS Store to pick up some Stamps. Morgan got PIXAR stamps...Nemo, Toy Story, Bugs Life, Incredibles, and Monsters Inc.

Didn't get back till 4pm.

Didn't eat anything till 9 because Jessica (other room mate) had friends over and I didn't want to go to the kitchen to get food. So I watched "17 Again". When the people left, Morgan made me Cup of Noodles.

We realized that we missed out on the Forum thingy with Pres. and Sister Clarke. We would have gotten ice cream AND possibly a FREE BYU-I Shirt. :(

Day 3

Wednesday September 12, 2012

Got up and ran 2.51 miles around campus. Ran a 9.51min mile split for the first two miles.

Book of Mormon:

The teacher showed up!! We had to introduce ourselves by saying something that no one else has done. I thought about saying; I'm a twin, was part of the Sacramento Temple Celebration, went to the PIXAR gate, I'll never have my own room...BUT none of those work because Morgan is in the same class. So I said that I was the Sports Editor for Yearbook, but somebody had the same experience. I couldn't think of anything so I was skipped. When it was Morgan's turn she said that she was the "youngest twin". Why didn't I think about being the "oldest twin"? Luckily that didn't work for the teacher, so she said that she "Got her hand stuck in a beater".

English:

Discussed our research project that is our Midterm (Due Oct. 24).

Stayed up working on History HW...just like in high school (at least I'm already accustomed to staying up late).

Day 2

Tuesday September 11, 2011:

In History, we went over the Syllabus. Then for Art, we did the same thing AND we got ALL THE ANSWERS TO ALL THE TESTS!!

After our classes we went back to dorm and worked on our Online Art Class: Design and Color. We had to turn in two assignments; the first was a scavenger hunt, and second was about us.

Devotional (DEVO) at 2:10 in the I-Center. President and Sister Clark spoke about trusting in the Lord when we are faced with trials.

Skyped with mom and dad after classes. The asked if we got a job yet, and we told them not yet, but still looking.

Morgan made Peanut Butter Cookies!

She BURNT the first batch...
...but the second batch came out PERFECT

That's it for Day 2!

Day 1

Monday September 10, 2012: First Day of College!!

Morgan made breakfast, Oatmeal. It was yummy. We headed to financial aid office to see how we pay for our tuition and stuff. Well that didn't help us, we had to go to the cashier office to do that, and we had to have our I-card (which we left at our dorm). We went back and got our I-card and headed back to Cashier Office. Everything was paid for :)

At 11:20 we headed to our first class was religion (first half of Book of Mormon) that started at 11:30. The entire class was there, no teacher. We waited 30 or so minuets, still no teacher. Other people came in and left. Slowly the class started to dwindle down to only a handful of us (from 50 to 15). After 45 minuets of patiently waiting, the TA came in and said that the class was canceled, and we should of all gotten an email from teacher explaining what we had to bring to class on Wednesday. Well, no one got an email, we checked. So that was a great start of our College career.

Our next class (English) didn't start till 3pm, so we had time to kill. Ate some leftover Chinese food for lunch, then looked up our syllabus for Book of Mormon. We need a 1 1/2 inch Binder with a view sleeve in front and back and side, Binder tabs, and a Comp Book. Well, I had the binder, but still had to get the rest of stuff.

At 2:50 we headed down the hill to our English class. We had a teacher!! Took two "tests", the first was a questionnaire to see how much we knew about English papers. One of the questions was "What was your last research paper on?". Well, that is a funny question, the last research paper I wrote was "How to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse" (The best final for AP English). The second "test" was correcting sentences. Not bad. Got out 15 min Early.

After English we went to the Book Store. Morgan got an Art Kit, Pad of Paper, and a Book of Mormon, and I got a Book of Mormon.

Had burritos for dinner.

We were invited to FHE next door, so we said yes. But as the time got closer, we regretted the agreement. We tried to tell the hosts that we were expecting our bishop later, but that didn't work. We were stuck doing a scavenger hunt around campus. Surprisingly, when we got back to the dorms, our Bishop was there to collect our papers (we had to fill them out, but didn't finish), so we quickly wrote down the answers (basically about our home ward Bishop and Stake President, hobbies/interests, Major, and what calling we want).

Well that was our excitement for the first day of School.

Tomorrow we have early classes: History at 8-9:30am and then right after that we have Art 101 (Art History) from 9:45-11:15.

September 7-9 2012

Ok, so I guess when I said I'll update my blog "Tomorrow", it really meant "11 days". Wow. Sorry, I'll try and make sure I update each week, if not everyday.

Friday Sep. 7:

First official day of being on our own without "Parental Supervision"
Got woken up by mom calling at 7:10. We talked for a while about what we were doing today. Morgan and I were about to get some breakfast, but Kayle (one of our I-Team leaders) knocked at the door and said we were meeting in 5 min to go to a meeting. So for breakfast we had an apple. (Not the healthiest first day breakfast).

We had 2 meetings:

1. Learning Method

College is going to be WAY different than high school. In high school you go to class, learn a lesson, and get homework that covers the lesson you learned in class. Well in college, we are expected to do the "home work" first. Which is called "Prepare". We are to Prepare for class BEFORE we get to class. Then we are to "Teach One Another", then "Ponder and Prove" what we have learned.

2. Learned about our Majors

Went to a seminar type of thing where the counsel of the Art Department talked to us about how to be successful in class. How many credits we need, and the different types of degrees we can get.

After the lessons we had a FREE New Student BBQ. We got a nasty looking (but good) hamburger, bag of chips, water bottle and a Grass Hopper Brownie (Mint Brownie).

Then we had a "Get Involved" Fair, where we learned about the upcoming activities, like when sports start up.

Free time from 3:30 to 8pm.

Got our I Card.

At 5:30 we had a pick-nick out side our room on the tables. It was fun, we had a couple of girls from our I-Team there and some of the guys who decided they wanted to some food (But it was all right, they brought a watermelon).

At 8 we headed to the Talent show, which was boring. We were in the back, and couldn't see anything. It was mainly just girls and boys singing while playing the guitar.

Saturday Sep. 8:

Basically did nothing today until 6. At 10:30 we toured the campus with our I-Team, then Morgan and I went and picked up our books. Kinda picked up our room for a little bit, then I watched Revolution on Hulu, but Morgan was talking to me, so I really didn't watch it.

At 6 we headed to I-Night with I-Team. It cost $5 to get in, and we go a $1 card for food. The best part was the rock wall. Morgan and I failed our first attempt, but made it up our second. Then we took a break and went to get Ice Cream with our food card, then Morgan went on the rock wall again.

Sunday Sep. 9:

Church was a little weird...We had RS first, then Sunday School, and lastly was Sacrament. There are about 90 wards with around 150 or so students.

At 5 we had a CES Fireside, Elder Holland spoke (it was broadcasted from St. George UT, so he wasn't actually at BYUI), it was really good.

Then later that night, I re-watched Revolution.

Tomorrow (Sep. 10) marks the 1st day of COLLEGE!

Meridian and Idaho Falls

I know I haven't been writing lately, but it's been pretty busy these past days.

Let's see, Mom, Dad, Morgan and I left California on Saturday September 1st, and went to Nana and Papa's house to visit and say good bye before leaving for Rexburg.

Fun at Nana's:

Saturday:

Morgan on the little motorcycle

Me on the motorcycle. I look stupid with my legs all out and my eyes closed.

Saturday night, Morgan and I tried out "light painting". It took a bit of trial and error (like most things), but we got a few good pictures.
We used Morgan's flashlight to draw the pictures, and set the shutter speed on my camera between 15-30 seconds to allow it to capture each drawing.

My turn!! I drew a heart.

And scribbles. These pictures would be cooler if we used a glow stick or a light stick, and not a flashlight. The flashlight created too much light around the grass. But that's ok, we still got some pretty good pics anyway.
Sunday:
After church, I went out and took some pics of Nana's flowers. Morgan really likes this one, so I decided to post it for her.

When shooting, I had it on burst setting, where you hold down the shoot button and it takes a lot of pictures. I didn't even realize that a bee was flying off the flower, until I went back to look at the pictures I took. So that was pretty cool.

While I was out taking pictures, Morgan was in the Library "Drawing", but when I came back inside she was a sleep. I couldn't resist taking her picture!
Morgan wasn't the only one who took a nap after church. I think we all did. I took at least a 2 or 3 hour nap if not longer. We were all tired.

Monday:

Mom, Dad, Morgan and I went miniature golfing, and then went shopping around Boise. When we went back to Nana and Papa's, Mom and I worked on a puzzle, and then I watched "Pride and Prejudice" with Nana (Morgan was there too, but she doesn't care for it, so she crocheted a fish).

Tuesday:

On our way to Rexburg. We took a pit stop at Twin Falls and went to Costco and stopped at a gorge and took pictures.

Here is the bridge we crossed over to get to the gorge. It was really fun photographing different angles of it.
This statue is titled "Twins", probably because it is in Twin Falls. I don't really know. There was a plaque, but it was hard to read the description.

This is the beauty that you see as you follow the path under the bridge. If you look closely to the middle right side, you can see a water fall.
When we were heading back to the car, we saw a landmark statue, and decided to take a look at it. It ended up belonging to...
...Evil Knivel

Here is a closer look at his statue. At least just his name, I didn't get a bigger description of what it said below his name.

See that dirt mound, that is where he did one of his jumps over the snake river.
Pretty Cool :)

Wednesday:

At the Idaho Falls Museum, they had a King Tut exhibit. And because I'm really interested in Egypt, we went to see the exhibit. I took over 300 pictures, a picture or two of each artifact, and then one of its description. Don't worry, I won't post all the pictures, just a couple of my favorites. Most of the "Artifacts" were replicated, but one of the Museum people said that some of the jewelry they had were the real things.

King Tuts head piece...

...His sarcophagus...

...and his mummified body (obviously it is a replicated, because it wouldn't survive being out in the open air like this is).
It was fun looking at all the Egyptian stuff. I was excited the entire time, this was a once in a life time experience, to see stuff from King Tut's Time in Ancient Egypt.

Thursday:

Move in day at BYU-Idaho. We got moved in and went to the grochery store and Walmart to pick up a few last minuet things, and then had a new student/parent meeting. After the meeting, we went to dinner and had Chinese. It was alright, except when I dipped some ham into HOT mustard that I thought was honey mustard. I got a surprise when I put it my mouth, it felt like it was on fire and burning.

We said good bye to Mom and Dad around 8ish, and then we met our I team and played games up at the top fields, and stayed up there until 11pm.

Well that was what the couple days before school started was like. It is 10:45pm right now, and I need to get some sleep. Tomorrow I'll make sure I right about what happened on Friday-Tomorrow. See You then! :)
